Every year The Sound Training Centre record an album for a selected charity featuring some of the best Irish artists.
"This year’s album is called ‘The Shortest Night’. It will be released on the shortest night of the year, June 21st, and all proceeds will go to the Dublin Simon Community. We hope to have as much success as we had with our previous albums. The theme of the album is songs that inspire hope and courage; our main song will be a version of Ben E. King’s ‘Stand By Me’ and the other covers will be classic soul and Motown songs. Artists confirmed for this project include Jape, Villagers, Bipolar Empire, Mick Pyro, The Pale, Propeller Palms, Solar Taxi, Pugwash and others."
We will be covering 'Respect' !, Aisling also guests on 'Stand by Me' which features all the artists on the album
Last year’s album, called ‘Silver Lining’, was a huge success; it raised over €50,000, charting with James Vincent McMorrow’s version of ‘Higher Love’. All proceeds went to Headstrong, the national centre for youth mental health.
There will be a launch gig for the album in the Button Factory, Temple Bar on June 21st.
